The Middle Fork of the Popo Agie River is raging with spring run off from the Wind River Range – perfect timing for a rowdy-paddling-ride that starts in Lander City Park!
Popo Agie comes from the Crow language, meaning “beginning of the waters”, and is pronounced puh-POE-juh, so don’t go walking around town saying something like poe-poe-ag-ee!
The river is also notable for passing underground through a sinkhole in Sinks Canyon State Park, only to emerge downstream (hours later) at The Rise.
